Leroy Jones: My Cherie Amour / Feel Like Makin' Love

This has been a pet project I've wanted to do for some time now. These two musical selections were amongst the repertoire performed by my quartet during the early to mid 1980s. That ensemble consisted of myself, Shannon Powell on drums, Russell "Rusty" Gilder on the bass, and pianist Edward Frank.

My Cherie Amour arrived via Ed's imagination and the group's consistent playing opportunities. It had never been transcribed. There was no need. During that particular time we were probably the only instrumental band playing it that way. So in order to recreate this particular nuance, I wrote and arranged the suitable charts from memory to include some percussive spice from Brett Gallo.

Feel Like Makin' Love is also a soul/pop classic that requires no introduction. My quartet of old used to do it often, but not with this fresh twist. Mike Clement's guitar and Helen Gillet's cello work complement the contemporary standard.

I hope these two new additions to my discography are worthy of praise and a delightful listening experience.
